Journal #37 - Favorite Meal
There is one meal that I think of when someone asks me what my favorite meal is. I love Thanksgiving and everything that revolves around it. I love the food, I love the family, and I love the birthday gifts (my birthday falls on thanksgiving every few years). But this meal on thanksgiving day is a blessing from the heavens above. We start off with some turkey, or course. We have assortments of mashed potatoes, the family pink jello, pretzal salad, corn, fruits, salad, and all kinds off holiday feating foods. I look forward to this meal all year round and I love to take naps afterwards to digest the large portions of food that I have eaten. THe turkey is always mouth wateringly juicy, mostly because my mom is secrety a master chef, but somehow she pulls out an amazing turkey every year. I do not understand how she makes it more perfect every year. There has literally never been a bad turkey in the history of the Tomaw holidays. The mashed potatoes are specially made by my grandma from scratch. As you wait in line to get your food you can hear the sizzling freshness baked in each scoop of the potatoes. The smell traveling across the kitchen during this time is magical, and can only be described by someone who has sen heaven before. THe mixing smells of the turkey, potatoes, and everything else hot compliments the theme of feasting for the day. As you touch the fresh rolls you get a sense of urgency to get back to your seat as quickly as possible to eat. They feel so soft, yet crisp at the same time. When walking up to the line of food, my eyes begin to shed tears of joy from seeing such an amazing feast before me. I wish every day could be like this day, because I love food like the way my family cooks it. I am infact already in preparation for next year.
